I look at intuition as a muscle. It is something we all have and the more we use it, the stronger it becomes. This week’s blog is about how you can continue to develop your intuition. We sometimes get distracted by the hustle and bustle of daily life, and sometimes forget that we are human beings, not human DOINGS! I have found that my soul speaks to me the most when I am giving it the time and attention that it needs.
Here are my top 5 ways to develop your intuition and truly allow your soul to speak to you:
1. Listen to yourself.
Just like I mentioned in last week’s blog, making space in your everyday life for listening to yourself allows your intuition to have the opportunity to speak. Listen for and become aware of your body’s signals. Your body will always know before your mind. Your emotions will manifest in your body and so your body will let you know by way of sensations in various parts of your body, such as body temperature changes, the colour tone in your face, your heart beat will shift, you may feel pressure in your chest or discomfort/butterflies in your stomach. There are so many bodily sensations and every person experiences them in different ways. Giving yourself some quiet time each day will help you become more in tune with them and the more in tune you are, the more your intuition will raise its voice.
2. Give yourself what you need.
When you are able to deeply listen to yourself, you will be able to pick up on what your body and soul truly need in any given moment. It is important to honour that and take time out of your day to give yourself what you need. If you are able to give yourself what it is you truly need, then your intuition will grow! It will feel like whenever it speaks up, you will listen and give it what it needs. This not only provides you with the self-love and self-care that you need, it helps to build your self-trust.
When you learn to trust yourself, your body, mind and soul will become more aligned, allowing for yourself to feel like it is being taken care of and loved in times of need. This creates more space for your intuition to be heard, to be seen and to shine.
3. Spend time in nature.
Those of you who have been reading my posts for awhile will know that I absolutely LOVE being in nature. There are many reasons for that, but the one I want to talk about briefly here is being out in nature helps me to become more in tune with my soul; my intuition is loudest when I am among the trees, flowers and deer. There is something about being out in nature that is absolutely magic. I am able to heal, to listen, to learn and to grow more when I am in the outdoors than anywhere else. I highly encourage you to spend more time out in nature and see how your intuition responds.
4. Live in the present moment.
Breathe. Meditate. Sink into your body.
What does your body say?
What does your intuition tell you that your soul needs?
Being present in all things brings a type of “quiet” to the soul and therefore is able to truly BE… and live.
That silence is required for your intuition to surface and share what it is your soul really needs you to know.
I live in the present moment simply by noticing my breath. I will light a candle and take in its aroma. I will sit in the sun and feel its warmth on my face. I will deeply listen to the people around me and think about all of the things I appreciate about them. I will write. I will sing. I will lift a quiet “thank you” up into the Universe and smile.
5. Feel your emotions.
I have BIG emotions. I carry not only my own emotions, but the emotions of the those around me. I am an empath and a highly sensitive person so it is even more important for people like me to feel their emotions.
I will cry every few days – or at least once a week – to release. It is so freeing and I truly believe that feeling your emotions is one of the most self-loving acts that you could ever do.
Allowing yourself to feel your feelings sends a beautiful message to your soul that says,
